![]() ![]() Their small yet rabid fanbase will buy them up.īoth the main operators of Strider, Mickey Ray Burger (Mick Strider) and Duane Dwyer, were outted years ago on a bunch of false Military Service claims.Blue Lynx ( Japanese: ブルーリンクス) is a Japanese anime label and subsidiary of Fuji TV. Mick was completely full of shit for the first 10 or so years of operation of Strider Knives about his Military service, now he is pretty silent about it. There were some glaringly outlandish claims! This can be found with some simple Google searching. Dwyer could never really show proof (or chose not to) to back up his S/S claims, fell back on the "My Classified Records are sealed" line numerous times. Add to this an early partnership of sorts with SOE's founder John Willis back when they operated shops out of the Oceanside area, you get where this is going?! Both produced "altered" DD214's on forums and websites. I owned (and used) several of their blades from 1999 - 2004 but dumped them at no loss when this whole debacle started to unravel. I was an early supporter, but like many, the Stolen Valor issues were the end of it. Oddly enough, Darryl Bolke (thick like thieves) bought a couple of my rarer ones : / You will still find a small group of "Striderettes" that defend them. Many people have strong opinions going either way but (my advice) look more toward the folks that had knowledge of that company since the beginning. ![]() When it broke out on Bladeforums there was a lot of peppered Angus. Other makers were equally egregious about issues in their life but nope, Strider took the brunt of it. Oh well.Īre they collectible, yes, any knife collector who wants that particular knife because of what it is and who made it will pay money for it. Strider is no longer in commercial production, but still makes customs. He started a style unique and not seen before, as usual, the knife making community have copied it and are offering similar knives because styles sell. Frame locks weren't unknown but it popularized them in military circles. If it has slots on the back of the liners, Strider. Hand ground Strider blades on HAK knives for Tier One backups, Strider. Hard to buy a "tacticool" knife without some of his collective style copied. For historical purposes alone it was a hallmark design and still is - others contributed their touches and then branched out on their own in similar vein. Frankly, most of those who will pay good money for one in ten years will do so and when told about the maker, will answer Meh. It's no longer the weapon of the Evil Empire of Reagan days. Listening to Strider haters now is like listening to some shrill 85 year old gramma harping about Nixon. "Allegations"? All of his lies were exposed, Duane as well. You can choose to ignore them but that is exactly "what happened". The guy is a turd and was exposed as such. Do you actually deny that his market share has fallen so far that they closed doors?ĪlThose allegations have been out for years, at least 10 years. That is not why they consolidated and retired the “Strider” brand. I’m not ignoring anything, but you are definitely ignorant of the actual facts. ![]() Fact is Mick and Duane are still in business, they’re still selling knives faster than they can manufacture them. They will be at Shot Show booth #20131 and will sell out every knife they put on they table. To this day dealers have a hard time keeping their knives in stock, they sell out within hours of posting them up. Facts are their knives are still highly collectible and in high demand. ![]()
